Gross Motor -- Balance

Walk on a balance beam -- a 2x4 board placed on the ground.

Make a Phone Book Beam.

      It's the second activity on the page.

Other ways to teach balance: stand on one foot, hop on one foot, hop in a circle and hop backward. Walk along the edge of the cement on a patio.

Math -- 10

Hop 10 times, clap 10 times, jump 10 times, etc.

Glue 10 cotton balls on a construction paper cloud.

Ten In A Bed
Action poem

There were ten in a bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over." -- rolling motion
So they all rolled over and one fell out.
There were nine in the bed and the little one said,
"Roll over, roll over."
So they all rolled over and one fell out....

This is repeated until you get to the number one. Each time "roll over" is said, rolling motion is dramatized.

There was one in the bed and the little one said,
"Good night!"

Science -- Clouds & Sky

Choose one or more weather activities from Preschool Rainbow.

Make "Sun Pictures" -- Just before nap, put objects on a piece of colored construction paper and place it in the sun (be careful that the paper or objects won't blow away). After nap, take the objects off the paper.

Make "Cloud Pictures" -- Watch the sky for a while on a cloudy day. Provide the children with blue paper and white chalk to make their own cloud pictures.

Child's Play has these themes: Weather; Kites; Sun, Moon, Stars, Planets; Rain.

Color -- Gray

Read Gray Rabbit's 1,2,3 by Alan Baker and Gray Rabbit's Odd One Out by Alan Baker.

Choose one or more First School.
