        Note: Before you begin this unit, ask parents to
        donate old shoes and socks of all types and sizes.

        Ideal for

        SPECIAL TOYS & GAMES BIBLE LANGUAGE
        MONDAY Cardboard Shoes: Trace each child's foot on cardboard. Cut it out, decorate, then punch holes in the spots where the shoe string goes. With a shoe string show the children how to lace the "shoe". Play Hide the Shoes: Take turns hiding the donated shoes and finding them.

        Next, play Hide the Socks!

        TUESDAY Play with Playdough. Provide foot-shaped cookie cutters, too. Explore Shoes & Socks: Provide a box of old shoes & socks for the children to explore! Find the matches.
        WEDNESDAY Teach all or some of this Saul is Changed lesson and activities. Make this Tell the Good News suitcase craft. (You will have to scroll down.)
        THURSDAY Shoe Sole Rubbings: Have the children take off one of their shoes and turn it over and place a piece of paper on the sole and rub their crayons on the paper. Compare the children's rubbings to see how different each one is! Read The Foot Book.
        FRIDAY Shoe & Sock Collage: Provide pre-cut pictures of shoes and sock out of magazines and catalogs for the children to glue on consturction paper. Shoe Planter: From the donated shoes, have the children fill the old shoes up with potting soil and plant fast growing seeds such as grass or pinto beans. Either send the plants home or keep to watch the plants grow!

        Toe Painting

        Take off socks and shoes and draw faces on the children's toes. Take pictures!

        Have children Paint with Shoe Strings. Make Foot Impressions: Have the children step in play dough with their shoes on, allow to dry, and then compare.
